JOBS Trust
Bangladesh was founded in 2005. Building on eight years of success
as the USAID-funded Job Opportunities and Business Support
(JOBS)
Project, the Trust continues to operate as an integrated private
sector development program, providing support to Bangladeshi
enterprises with the aim of increasing employment opportunities. By
providing skills training, marketing consultancy, business
management and capacity development training, and advocacy, JOBS
enables business to expand sales in both domestic and international
markets, thus increasing the demand for labor locally.
Bringing the
years of experience in this field to bear, the JOBS Trust has
received support from a diverse group of sponsors including the
United Nations Development Programme, Family Health International,
the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the Japanese Bank for
International Cooperation. This expanded donor-base allows JOBS to
target special populations – adolescent girls (UNICEF), recovering
drug users (FHI) and char-dwellers (Concern) – for employment
generation, benefiting both business and marginalized populations.
Our growing team
of local and expatriate professionals at the JOBS Trust oversees
several initiatives, many of them innovative, first-of-their-kind
pilots being watched closely by the worldwide aid community. JOBS
enjoys an impressive reputation and solid relations with the donor
community, national government, businesses across the private
sector, and the international Mission community, bringing a vibrant
and unique approach to the business of development.
